Well I noticed two small places on his right thumb knuckle and for days I asked for someone to attend to this before it became infected. On Thursday the 22nd myself and his home care can, Charlotte, went for a visit and she went over to the glass by the front door and came back and said it was infected.

The people who work there are surly, but the administrator is nice. He has been requesting for 3 weeks to see a physician there, but he never did, and he was finally sent to the emergency room without notifying me. That’s the second time that he went to the hospital and they did not call me. They don’t give him a diabetic diet even though he is a diabetic. They are supposed to check his blood sugar 4 times a day, but if we’re lucky they check it once.
My husband is in Sterling Place, a nursing home in Baton Rouge. He’s been there for several weeks, and I haven’t had any problems with them. The staff has all been very nice to me, very caring, and very concerned. They have activities, but my husband is not a participant. His dementia is very advanced now, so he’s not into it. They’ve been remodeling since the hurricane, when they’ve had problems.

The kitchen area is very huge, nice, and bright, but it’s kind of small. They have at least 3 or 4 things every day. We’re very Catholic in South Louisiana, and they do have the rosary once a week. There are a couple of times a month that they take them to Wal-Mart.

My mother-in-law has been there since December. The staff was very good, the facility was very clean and they’re very caring. She eats in her room, but she says that the food is very good. Physical therapy is mainly the shining star for me, it was the most outstanding. She’s improved enough to go home, it’s remarkable how they’ve helped her improve so much. The rooms are better than most Medicaid facilities because they’re semi-private.
They have games, church services, and movie nights. They have a rehab exercise center and provide transportation to medical transportation, shopping, or restaurants. They serve three meals a day, but I think the meals could be better. I’ve had some issues with the staff, but they’ve gotten much better. We’re very pleased with Ollie Steele Burden Manor Nursing Facility, the physical therapy especially was excellent.
The staff was very friendly and very helpful. It was very clean, there was no smell, and it was very nice. They have a room where you can go do puzzles and stuff like that. I was real comfortable in my room, but it was very tiny. The bathroom was very nice and very accommodating.

We feel very satisfied that she’s getting what she needs and we’re comfortable where she is. It’s very well kept, and the facility looks nice to me inside and out. We did a lot of comparison shopping because we were out-of-pocket the first few months, and then Medicaid is paying for it, but I think the cost is very good for what we get definitely. We’re very satisfied with the administrative staff as well as the nursing staff.
When my mother was in the hospital the staff their told us that she will likely need nursing home placement. I was really skeptical and nervous about that but they provided a list of nursing homes in the area and said to go to nursing home compare on the medicare website to help me with my decision. I came across this facility and noticed that it had a 4 star rating.
